Matthew Weiner, MD
Dr. Weiner is a board certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has practiced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery since 2006. Dr. Weiner graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1998 and Completed his General Surgery Residency at New York University. After finishing residency, Dr. Weiner started as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University. In 2011, he opened his own private practice, initially in Commerce, MI, now conveniently located in West Bloomfield, MI.
Dr. Weiner’s practice focuses on the treatment of obesity, using both surgical and non-surgical techniques. In 2013, Dr. Weiner authored the book, A Pound of Cure that has sold over 10,000 copies to date. His Pound of Cure weight loss program is very popular within the weight loss surgery community. His program has a following throughout the US as well as in the UK and Australia. He also has one of the most popular informational channels on weight loss surgery on youtube.
Dr. Weiner is a past president of the Michigan State Chapter of Bariatric Surgeons and sits on the Executive counsel of the Michigan Bariatric Surgery Collaborative. He is deeply committed to patient outcomes, both short and long term. His complication rate after Bariatric Surgery is among the lowest in the state.
Dr. Weiner is also well versed in healthcare economics and is working to develop systems that reduce the inflated cost of healthcare for all surgical procedures.
